Starting basic ₹25,500. HRA and other state allowances are added on top as per Maharashtra rules.
For the first three years the appointment is on a fixed monthly honorarium (₹16,000 as last revised); the regular scale shown here applies after that.
What you will actually do
- Acting as secretary of the gram panchayat and keeping its minutes and records
- Collecting house tax, water tax and other panchayat dues
- Maintaining panchayat accounts and getting them audited
- Implementing schemes: housing, sanitation, water supply, MGNREGA and 15th Finance Commission works
- Registering births, deaths and marriages and issuing certificates
- Organising gram sabhas and carrying out their resolutions
A typical day
You may hold charge of one large panchayat or two or three small ones. Mornings are at the panchayat office dealing with villagers who need a certificate, a tax receipt or their name in a scheme list. The sarpanch and members want works started; the block office wants online entries and reports the same day. Afternoons go in site visits and meetings at the Panchayat Samiti. Much of the pressure comes from being answerable both to elected members and to officers.
