What you will actually do

  • Driving PCR vans, patrol vehicles, buses, trucks and prisoner vans
  • Daily checks and minor maintenance of the allotted vehicle
  • Transporting police parties for bandobast and raids
  • Keeping the vehicle log book and reporting defects
  • General police duties with the unit when not driving

A typical day

You are attached to a police station, PCR unit, battalion or the motor transport section with one vehicle in your charge. A shift may mean hours parked at a PCR base point waiting for calls, or driving a bus of personnel to a rally before dawn and waiting to bring them back. You clean and check the vehicle daily and answer for any dent or breakdown. Hours are long because the vehicle is always needed.
